MediaRich® Server 3.8
Equilibrium is committed to developing the most powerful automated media production and delivery solutions for enterprises running Windows® Server and Mac® OS X Server. (To join our Beta Program for our new Linux and Sun Solaris versions, please call 1.866.EQUILIB.)
The latest version of Equilibrium MediaRich® Media Server 3.8 includes many features and functionality to improve business productivity, accelerate time-to-market and reduce costs associated with multi-channel media workflow.
New features added in Equilibrium MediaRich Media Server 3.8.6:
- A comprehensive Sonic Flash Zoom™ with Multi-Page/Frame zoom support (for PDF, EPS, PS, AI file types). This enables the on-demand viewing in any web browser from an elegant Flash interface of any multi-page file without having to download the entire file.
- HD and Broadcast formats, including MXF, MPEG2, MPEG2 Transport Stream (requires Audio/Video option).
- Scalable hot folder support is included, utilizing the power of MediaScript.
- A new Administrator Tool with batch job monitoring, error log, remote administration, and individual control of MediaRich threads.
- Linux server support for all image processing functions, with video support to follow later this year.
New features in Equilibrium MediaRich Media Server 3.8 include:
- Full metadata support for IPTC, Exif and XMP standards allows users to easily set and examine image metadata using common terms. MediaRich has the ability to extract, add and change image metadata that support the Exif, IPTC or XMP metadata standards
- Dramatically improved font rendering enables MediaRich to generate and composite smooth, high quality text onto graphic elements for product merchandising and navigation localization.
- CMYK color management for any OS allows prepress automation for vast quantities of CMYK conversions, dpi adjustments, and scaling requests within your workflow.
- Modular architecture upgrade enables external applications like IIS, Apache, SharePoint, CMS etc. to extract content to and from the MediaRich engine, allows for batch processing of related images, and streams content from the server without requiring a shared file system.
- Additional APIs for .NET services and classes, C#, SOAP and cross-platform Java allows for easy access to MediaRich's generation services from front-ends and ASP.NET web applications.
Industry Standard Metadata Support
MediaRich fully supports loading, saving and merging IPTC, Exif, and XMP metadata for JPEG, TIFF, and Photoshop® files. MediaRich also supports loading XMP metadata from the following file formats: Illustrator®, EPS, GIF, PDF, and PNG. This metadata is available to the script as a metadata XML document. Detailed schemas are provided for the Exif and IPTC documents constructed by MediaRich. The XMP metadata document conforms to the schema defined by Adobe®. The script API allows users not familiar with the metadata formats to examine and set image metadata using common terms and provides for the conversion of dates into standard MediaScript date objects.
Modular Architecture
MediaRich version 3.8 adds the ability to send files to MediaRich along with the script for processing. This allows applications external to MediaRich, such as a CMS, DAM or SharePoint Portal Server, to extract content, send that content to MediaRich for processing and stream back the results without having access to a shared file system. MediaRich now has the ability to process groups of related requests in a batch. Files can be shared between script invocations on different input media. Results from different scripts can be accumulated on the MediaRich server and processed together when the related requests are complete. An example of this would be to composite a corporate logo onto several source images. The logo would be sent down first. Each source image would then be sent to the server to have the logo added. Each resulting image gets stored on the server until all the images have been processed. The resulting images are added to a zip file and e-mailed to the user.
.NET API
The MediaRich .NET API provides classes and methods for communicating with MediaRich from within a .NET application. Clients can specify a MediaScript the server is to execute, pass arguments to the MediaScript, include file contents to be processed by the script, and read the response from the MediaGenerator. The MediaRich .NET API also fully supports batch processing of images through the MediaGenerator. With the batch processing API, clients can specify any number of associated batch jobs, synchronize the jobs, and determine the status of the jobs.
