Q: Why should I install MediaRich Visualizer for SharePoint?
A: MediaRich Visualizer will significantly enhance the appearance of any Microsoft SharePoint

Q: What is MediaRich Visualizer used for?
A: MediaRich Visualizer automatically creates thumbnails for all Microsoft Office, PDF, images and videos in the document library. For the image assets, any user (with rights) can export those documents out into a web deliverable format. Users can access Visualizer's Zoom and Pan function to examine the thumbnail so that no time is wasted in opening the wrong document or image. Visualizer is fully integrated with SharePoint and SQL Servers and is not a plug-in or a standalone application. In addition, it includes some image processing operations that are fully integrated into the software, so that additional expensive image processing software is not required. It provides batch uploading of assets, including the ability to upload complete folders while preserving their directory structure from both Windows and Macintosh.
Q: Does Equilibrium provide support for MediaRich Visualizer?
A: MediaRich Visualizer is provided free of charge. No phone or email support is included. If you wish to increase the functionality and have technical support, you need to purchase the full MediaRich for SharePoint.
Q: Is there a public Support Forum?
A: Yes, you can view what others have posted or post questions of your own on the Support
Forum. As with all forums, you must register in order to post.
Q: What are the system requirements for MediaRich Visualizer?
A: You must have any version of SharePoint 3.0 or greater (WSS 3.0, SharePoint Portal Server
or MOSS 2007). In addition we recommend that you install the MediaRich Server component on its own server.
Q: Will MediaRich Visualizer work across a large enterprise installation of SharePoint?
A: Yes, MediaRich Visualizer will scale.
Q: Is MediaRich Visualizer simply demonstration software or is it a real software tool?
A: MediaRich Visualizer is a full application. Many of the customization features included in MediaRich for SharePoint have been disabled, but the core of the product is running.
Q: Where is data stored in MediaRich Visualizer?
A: The original documents are stored in SharePoint using the Content Library database for the site collection the library is on. The thumbnails are also stored in the document library. Our system employs a custom intelligent caching component to distribute the Zoom and Pan files between SharePoint and the MediaRich server.
Q: Can I access data stored via MediaRich Visualizer with other software tools?
A: Because the original asset is stored in the Document Library on SharePoint you can utilize any tool, or build your own, that works with SharePoint.
Q: Can I install MediaRich Visualizer on more than one server?
A: Yes, there is no licensing limitation on the deployment.
Q: What are the differences between MediaRich Visualizer and MediaRich for SharePoint?
A: MediaRich Visualizer will allow you to export any image to the JPEG format. On export you can change the color to greyscale, add a black border and flip the image horizontally. You can pan and zoom two levels deep and save your results to a SharePoint library. Some features included with an upgrade to MediaRich for SharePoint include changing the size of the thumbnails; deeper Zoom and Pan operations; more export options & export formats; image processing operations (crop, sharpen, blur, etc.); processing options (compositing logos, text, etc); and much more. If you want to be able to write custom output scripts, or send your results outside of SharePoint (for web deployment, PowerPoint presentations, high quality printing, deployment to wireless devices, etc.) you will need to upgrade to the full MediaRich for SharePoint.
